EAST RIDING FA UNSUNG HERO OF THE MONTH – SEPTEMBER 2024

The East Riding FA Unsung Hero of the Month award recognizes individuals in our county who are going above and beyond to create a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for people to play and enjoy football.

We know that grassroots football in our county is supported by an amazing group of people who put their heart and soul into supporting the game for the benefit of others. This award is our way of recognizing and celebrating their efforts.

The winner of this month’s award is Trevor Rose.

Trevor’s contribution to grassroots football in our County is huge with him serving as the Referees Appointment Secretary for the Right Car East Riding County League, Humber Premier League and East Riding FA County Cups.

A well known and respected figure in local grassroots football Trevor has been involved in the game for over 50 years with him also enjoying a distinguished career as a referee.

Serving as a Referees Appointment Secretary is often a time consuming and arduous task due to the sheer number of games which need covering particularly as the Right Car East Riding County League is the largest open age league in the County. Trevor though takes great pride in being able to source match officials even though this can involve late night emails and early morning phone calls.

Not only does Trevor appoint referees to games he is also their biggest supporter with him offering support, advice and help through his involvement with the East Riding FA Referee Development Team and the East Riding Referees Association.

East Riding FA Communications and Participation Officer Chris Johnson said, “Trevor dedicates huge amounts of his time for the benefit of others, and he is a well liked and popular figures in local grassroots football. Being a Referees Appointment Secretary is an incredibly challenging but vital position and we are incredibly grateful for the work Trevor carries out on a weekly basis.”

Trevor will now be nominated for an award at the 2025 Grassroots Football Awards.
