EAST RIDING FA CLUB OF THE MONTH – OCTOBER 2024

The East Riding FA Club of the Month award recognizes the clubs in our county who are going above and beyond to create a fun, safe and inclusive environment for people to play and enjoy football.

The winner of this month’s award is Hedon Rangers AFC.

Led by Chairperson Richard Cooper the club is Two Star England Football Accredited and are located in the South Holderness region of the County.

The club boast a full male player pathway which includes 27 affiliated teams and nearly 400 registered players along with over 55 club volunteers.

Hedon Rangers is firmly at the heart of the community and prides itself on providing playing opportunities from U5’s through to over 50’s Veterans League football.

Remarkably the club doesn’t own its on facility which has led to many challenges with the club’s volunteers responding robustly and their commitment to providing high quality playing experiences is one of the reasons that so many of their players have gone on to play representative or semi-professional football.

The club is managed responsibly and with great integrity which is evidenced by them hosting one of the biggest pre-season tournaments in the county. An event which many people remember because of the warm welcome they receive.

Hedon Rangers are also recognised for their enthusiasm and dedication to following and implementing FA initiatives with them indeed coming up with their own scheme to improve the health of their young players. Their Well-being loyalty card rewards players every time they use a local facility or business.

East Riding FA Clubs and Participation Officer Chris Johnson said, “The volunteers at Hedon Rangers AFC work incredibly hard to make sure that the club is sustainable and inclusive. Playing and training over split sites causes logistical issues but through being well organised and committed the club overcomes these.”

Hedon Rangers AFC will now receive an automatic nomination for the Club of the Year award at the 2025 East Riding FA Grassroots Football Awards.
