White Ribbon 2024

East Riding FA partners with White Ribbon UK

East Riding FA commit to working towards ending violence against women and girls.

East Riding FA is committed to working towards ending men’s violence against women and girls by becoming White Ribbon Accredited, aligning with White Ribbon UK, the leading charity engaging men and boys to end violence against women.

As a White Ribbon Accredited organisation, we will deliver a comprehensive multi-year plan to transform our staff culture, systems, and the wider community we operate in. White Ribbon Accreditation is an opportunity to make our workplace a safe place for men and women, and to upskill our staff to become changemakers.

Some of the actions that will be taken include the development of a Domestic Abuse Policy for employees, appointing Ambassadors to advocate positive attitudes and behaviour within the organisation and wider community with us also aiming to provide support and education to our players, coaches, match officials and volunteers.

Martin Batstone, East Riding FA Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Director said, “I have been involved with White Ribbon as an Ambassador in several organisations now and I am delighted that both Staff and Directors at East Riding FA have embraced this campaign with such enthusiasm.  As an organisation we strive to enable grassroots football to be an inclusive and safe game for everyone to participate and enjoy. Our accreditation with White Ribbon is an important opportunity for us as an organisation to show leadership and we encourage local clubs and leagues to join us in addressing violence against women and girls. We recognise that this starts with men's behaviours and attitudes because it is men who must change so that we can make our communities safer for everyone. By wearing a White Ribbon I recognise that change starts with me, and I encourage everyone to consider becoming an Ambassador or a Champion and to be the difference.”

Anthea Sully, Chief Executive of White Ribbon UK said, “White Ribbon Accredited Organisations can make a real difference towards ending violence against women by promoting a culture of respect and equality among their staff and wider communities. By raising awareness among employees, people can learn how to become allies and call out violent and abusive behaviour when they see it. We are delighted to welcome East Riding FA as one of our White Ribbon Accredited Organisations and are looking forward to working with them towards ending violence against women once and for all”.
