EAST RIDING FA UNSUNG HERO OF THE MONTH – AUGUST 2024

The East Riding FA Unsung Hero of the Month award recognizes individuals in our county who are going above and beyond to create a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for people to play and enjoy football.

We know that grassroots football in our county is supported by an amazing group of people who put their heart and soul into supporting the game for the benefit of others. This award is our way of recognizing and celebrating their efforts.

The winner of this month’s award is Adam Leaming.

Adam’s contribution to grassroots football in our County is huge with him holding significant roles at two of the region’s clubs.

The roles Adam has taken on is almost endless with him serving FC Esperanza as Chairperson, Treasurer and Team Manager with him also taking on the Secretary, Treasurer and coaching roles at Chanterlands Girls FC.

Both clubs combined have 24 teams and over 280 players which means Adam dedicates a huge amount of time making sure that young people in the Chanterlands Avenue area of the city have access to fun, safe and inclusive football.

The variety of roles Adam takes on which stretch from making sure robust financial procedures are in place to marking out pitches to coaching teams is vast, but he carries out these vital roles with a smile on his face and with compassion and empathy.

Adam cares deeply about making sure that football is accessible to all, and he has faced many challenging encounters which includes forming a new committee at FC Esperanza. He also helped put structures and policies in place at both clubs which will make sure that they are sustainable with clear player pathways also in place.

Whilst Adam has taken on many administrative duties it’s his time out on the pitch which he enjoys most with him dedicating his weekends and most weekdays to coaching youth football.

East Riding FA Communications and Participation Officer Chris Johnson said, “Adam works incredibly hard for the benefits, and he will be the first to admit that he doesn’t do it to get recognition. The players parents and club officials at both FC Esperanza and Chanterlands Girls FC think Adam deserves a spotlight on him though and we agree.”

Adam will now be nominated for an award at the 2025 Grassroots Football Awards.
