EAST RIDING FA CLUB OF THE MONTH – OCTOBER 2023

The East Riding FA Club of the Month award recognizes the clubs in our county who are going above and beyond to create a fun, safe and inclusive environment for people to play and enjoy football.

The winner of this month’s award is Hall Road Rangers.

Founded by Ted Richardson Hall Road Rangers are a club that boasts a long and distinguished history which goes back to 1959

Originally the club started out with just one men’s team which competed in the Hull Sunday Football League before transitioning to Saturday football and the Yorkshire League. From there the team went on to join the Northern Counties East League which is where they stayed for exactly forty years.

Over the years the club has steadily started to grow to the point where it is now a two-star England Football Accredited Club with over 20 teams and over 700 registered players.

The COVID-19 crisis and rising facility costs unfortunately put paid to the men’s senior team although the club is continuing to thrive with it recently moving from Haworth Park to its new home at St Mary Queen Of Martyrs.

Led by Secretary Simons Stevens the club has amassed a dedicated band of volunteers who are determined to make sure that Hall Road Rangers continues to live on.

Chairman Paul Innes and committee members Matt Vass and Darren Bowness are determined to make the club fully inclusive with a heavy focus on youth development. The club also has a women’s senior side and a team specifically for deaf people. The only side of its kind in the whole of East Riding.

Chris Johnson, East Riding FA Participation and Communications Officer said: “This award recognises the amount of work that has gone on behind the scenes to ensure that Hall Road Rangers continue to be one of the areas more prominent clubs. They have formed a fantastic relationship with their new facility provider and are committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for people to play and enjoy grassroots football.”
