East Riding FA Club of the Month – October 2021
The East Riding FA Club of the Month award recognizes the clubs in our county who are going above and beyond to create a fun, safe and inclusive environment for people to play and enjoy football.
These clubs are doing extraordinary things to support their community and are supported by volunteers who work tirelessly for the benefit of others.
The winner of this month’s award is Priory FC, a club that currently boasts over 17 teams and nearly 300 registered players with the youngest being 6 years and the oldest 60 years old.
Priory FC also recently moved into their brand-new home of Pride Park which is on First Lane in Hessle.
The club and its dedicated band of volunteers are being recognized for their efforts in not only increasing the number of teams it has in such a short space of time but also for their endeavours in creating a facility which is regarded as one of the best in the area.
The club also go to extraordinary lengths to ensure its players can attend training sessions and match days with a mini bus service provided for those who would otherwise not be able to attend.
When asked about how important it was for the club to have its own facility Club Secretary Emma Black said, “We are delighted to finally have our own facility, it gives us the security to move forward with our plan for continuing steady growth whilst maintaining the club’s values, that every child of any ability will be offered the chance to play safe, structured football.”
When asked what motivates the volunteers at the club to continue putting in so many hours of hard work Club Chairman Mally Black said, “We all feel it is necessary to give up as much time as possible so that we can instil values in our young people that will help shape the rest of their lives.”
