Independent Advisory Group Strategy

Inclusive football in East Riding

This strategy is part of our due diligence and good governance in accordance with FA guidelines, but it is so much more than that.

This is an exciting phase in the development of grassroots football in the East Riding with significant recent growth in both girls’ participation and pan disability football.

This strategy is therefore timely in helping us recognise the achievements that have been made and providing a clear sense of direction for the next stages in the development of our ambitions to create a truly inclusive game.

We recognise the need to have greater diversity at every level of the game, to create and celebrate local role models, improve leadership and decision making and to ensure the sustainability of the good progress that has been made.

Aim 1: Empowerment

To actively listen to the voices of protected characteristic groups and recognise the contribution that stakeholders with lived experience can make.

Aim 2: Representation

To build confidence within minoritized and under-represented groups to become coaches and referees and to continue to support the infrastructure of the game beyond playing.

Aim 3: Celebration

To celebrate and promote diversity and inclusion at all levels of the game.

Aim 4: Fairness

To ensure that the game is promotes fairness and respect for all and that behaviours and culture reflects the standards expected of our values of inclusion.

Aim 5: Accessibility

To continue to develop access for disabled people through pan disability and specific disability football.
